A Festival of Service

The Sparta Events Department has looked for ways to gives back to the community through the Potter in the Park Festival, and this year we’re going all out. Just like last year, we’ll be selling ducks to race down Nash Creek. The proceeds will go towards Now Playing, a non-profit organization that provides at-risk children with opportunities to experience the arts. The ducks will be $10 or 3/$20. This year we’ll also be bringing back Extra Life, a non-profit in Grand Rapids that helps sick and injured children. Extra Life representatives will be running the Quidditch check-in, Quidditch will be instructed by the Grand Valley State University Grindylows.

New additions to the Festival will feature a drive and a walk. This year we’ll be introducing the Severus Snape Shampoo Drive. This drive is to combat the stigma of hygiene poverty. The donations will go to the Sparta Baptist Church Hygiene Pantry which serves those in need of support in the northern Kent County Area. Those who donate will receive House Points for every donation that they make. Our next new addition is the Platform 9 ¾ Walk for Diabetes. This walk will support our local Lions Club and their efforts to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve the quality of life in our community. Participation in the walk is $15 and includes a complementary Potter in the Park Swag Bag.

We here at the Chamber look forward to an exciting festival that not only provides for all attendees present as well as the surrounding community.
