Holiday Passports

Shopping Local is making a vote toward the direction you want your community to be – every sale is important to the bottom line of mom-and-pop shops, and this holiday season if you are able to “go local” on some of your gift choices, you will be making a huge economic impact locally!

The Sparta holiday Passport Campaign launches Friday, November 25, and runs until Dec. 15. It is a shopping promotion that encourages residents and visitors to choose Sparta and discover local retail businesses!

Here is how it works: a purchase at any participating retailer will earn shoppers a stamp on their passport. Once the shopper has collected FIVE stamps from five different businesses, the shopper can turn in their passport, and enter to win one of ten prizes that include $100 in Sparta Bucks! The Sparta Bucks are local currency dollars that are able to be used just like a gift certificate for participating businesses!

“We’re passionate about encouraging people to shop locally in Sparta, and this campaign is the perfect tool to facilitate that,” said Elizabeth Morse, DDA/Chamber director for the Village of Sparta.

With over 12 businesses participating in the holiday campaign, it will be easier than ever to fill up a passport! Shoppers can enter as many passports as they like, too, and the more passports one enters, the better chances are of winning!

The campaign encourages customers to explore local shops and discover new gift ideas in Sparta! Shoppers can pick up passports at any participating business and at the Chamber office. Completed passports need to be returned by 5 pm on Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Chamber front door mailbox slot!
